Transportation and PRRS 2015 Congress Venue

The Congress will take place at the International Convention Center Ghent (
ICC Ghent, address: Van Rysselberghedreef 2, 9000 Ghent). Pictures from the ICC Ghent are available here. The Congress Farewell Banquet will be held in the city downtown, at the Ghent Opera, Schouwburgstraat 3, 9000 Ghent.

If you come by plane: the easiest way to reach Ghent from Brussels International Airport is to take the train because the railway station is in the basement of the airport, at level -1. Every 1 minute before the hour, there is a direct train (no changes) that takes you to the Gent Sint-Pieters station in 56 min (other trains are available as well, but with changes in Brussels). Then it is easier to take a taxi from the station (there are always taxi's available, V-Tax +329222 22 22) to the hotels in the center (about €10 and 10 min driving). The Conference venue is ICC Ghent (Van Rysselberghedreef 2, 9000 Gent), only a 10 min walk from the Gent Sint-Pieters railway station.

You can buy your train tickets at
http://www.belgianrail.be/en/ using "from: Brussel-Nat-Luchthaven [NMBS/SNCB]”, and "To: Gent-Sint-Pieters [NMBS/SNCB]”, choose the dates, pay by credit card and receive a pdf of your tickets that you have to print and take with you.

Ghent’s public transport network is operated by the Flemish Transport Company De Lijn, and consists of trams and buses
(view here a full map). A useful tram is line 1 which connects the train station Sint Pieters with the city centre (e.g. Castle Gravensteen) and can be used to reach the Congress Venue (ICC Ghent) from downtown: about every 6 min, from 6 AM until 11 PM, see downtown stops below or click on the right map to get a complete overview of Tram Line 1. Exit from the tram at stop “Van Monckhovenstraat” and walk 7 min across the Citadelpark to get to the entrance of the ICC. “De Lijn” buses also stop in front of the entrance of the ICC (stop “Ledeganckstraat”). Tickets can be bought from vending machines, at special De Lijn offices or from the driver. The ticket (€3) has to be stamped on board of the vehicle and is then valid for 1 hour with unlimited travel (see De Lijn for Day passes: for instance a three-day pass bought from the driver of the tram with unlimited travel in Flanders will cost you €12).
